Mary: Goddess of Roman Catholicism

(unedited)

A Goddess of Biblical Proportions

The Mary of the Roman Catholic Church

Mary, the Mother of Jesus according to the Roman Catholic Church among many other titles is called the ‘Mother of God’. Henceforth I will refer to the Roman Catholic Church as the RCC. Mary, according to RCC is also given other titles that collectively give this Mary a status that separates her from anyone that has ever been born in this world or that ever will be born.

Let me preface this article by first stating that, as a bible believing Christian, I am disgusted at the thought of denigrating a saint that has been blessed and blessed abundantly to receive the task of giving birth to the Savior of mankind. I appreciate what Mary did and I am blessed in her blessing bestowed upon by God.

With that being said, there are some things believed about Mary by the RCC that are revealed by the Scriptures to be abominations to the Lord. She has been given titles and a status that is not approved by God. Because of this, many have rejected the Savior for a false god(dess). This goddess has appeared, just as Diana did to the Ephesians and Fatima appeared in the early 1900’s and possibly many more times before that and after that. There may be many more appearances from which a fallen angel has appeared as Mary.

It is my sincere hope that Christians will have a deeper understanding of Mary and realize what she went through watching the child that she mothered grow strong and take upon himself the sins of the world. Contrary to the teaching of the RCC Mary did not fully understand the ministry of Jesus. The second chapter of Luke points this out when Jesus tarried in Jerusalem at the age of twelve and Joseph and his mother did not know it. When Joseph and Mary finally find Jesus three days later Luke records:

“And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why has thou thus dealt with us? Behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.”

Luke 2:48-50

What the Word of God reveals of Mary, the Mother of Jesus

The angel Gabriel spoke to Mary, the Mother of Jesus according to the Word of God. Gabriel said to Mary, “Hail, thou art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women… And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.” (Luke 1:28,30) Luke also records Mary saying;

“And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.”

Luke 1:46-55

The Lord was with Mary and her humility in the above-mentioned scripture reveals a woman that truly echoed the sentiments of the Psalmist. With that being said, there are occasions recorded in the Word of God clearly distinguish the earthly relationship of Jesus and his mother. It was the will of God in honoring the law to “honor thy mother and father” that Jesus allowed himself to be under subjection (Luke 2:51) to his parents. (Luke 2:41) What Jesus did not allow was humanity drawing conclusions from the words of Christ that Mary was connected to his ministry and work nor a part of the divine nature or divine relationship that Christ had with his Father.

“And he [Jesus] said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”

Luke 2:52

“And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come. Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”

John 2:1-5

“And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”

Luke 11:27-28

“While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Matthew 12:46-50

Not only does the Word of God leave absent that Mary is the ‘Mother of God’, it reveals that Jesus never calling Mary ‘mother’. In every instant where Jesus converses with His mother, he refers to her as ‘woman’. He also clearly reveals that Mary is not blessed above another believer (Luke 11:27-28) for having given birth to Jesus. The Lord Jesus also said while stretching his hand toward his disciples, “whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” (Matthew 12:49-50) It is also noteworthy to find in the gospel of John the following passage:

“Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”

John 19:25-27

It cannot even be accidentally inferred that the Word of God and the words of Christ identify Mary as the ‘Mother of God’ because in every single passage which pertains to a verbal exchange between Christ and Mary, Jesus never even calls Mary, mother, let alone identify her as someone to be revered as the ‘Mother of God’.

There is no confusion in the Word of God about this nor does the RCC make it a confusing issue with the Word of God because they do not base this doctrine from the Word of God. The RCC makes this claim of Mary from dogma that falls under tradition, papal edict, and claims to infallibility, which reject the authority of the Word of God in favor of polluted ideologies that nullify the Word of God.

How has the RCC Church erred regarding Mary?
_____

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church on page 251 we find some dogmatic beliefs ascribed to Mary. This will help us establish a strong identity of Mary according to statements made of Mary.

“The Virgin Mary… is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and of the redeemer… She is ‘clearly the mother of the members of Christ’… since she has be her charity joined in bringing about the birth of the believers in the Church,…” (p. 251)

“Mary, Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church.” (p.251)

“This union of the mother with the Son in the work of salvation is made manifest from the time of Christ’s virginal conception up to his death.” (p. 251)

“Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more conformed to her Son,…” (p. 252)

“Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” (p. 252)

“The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.” (p. 253)

“The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an “epitome of the whole gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.” (p. 253)

“…in the communion of all the saints,” the Church is awaited by the one she venerates as Mother of her Lord and as her own mother.” (p.254)

“,…Mary was already collaborating with the whole work her Son was to accomplish.” (p. 254)

“The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son’s resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of his Body.” (p. 254)

“We believe that the Holy Mother of God, the new Eve, Mother of the Church, continues in heaven to exercise her maternal role on behalf of the members of Christ” (Paul VI, CPG 15).” (p. 254)

“Sometimes, when we pray to Mary, we talk to her. Sometimes, when we pray to Mary, we just think about her and her Son. When we use the Rosary, we talk to her and think about her and Jesus at the same time. For our vocal prayers we use the Apostles Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be to the Father. For our mental prayers, we think about the great events in the life of Mary and her divine Son called Mysteries. So when we use the Rosary, we talk to the Blessed Trinity, to Our Father in Heaven, and to Mary herself. And all the while we keep think about the great events that filled the life of Jesus and Mary on earth.” www.truecatholic.org/rosary.htm.

“Therefore we behold her taken up from this valley of tears into the heavenly Jerusalem, amid choirs of Angels. And we honour her, glorified above all the Saints, crowned with stars by her Divine Son and seated at His side the sovereign Queen of the universe.” (part 4. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

The Word of God made null and void through the precepts of Man

Every quote in the previous segment was taken from official RCC dogma. God does not, nor will he- ever share His glory with anyone. The Lord God almighty is a jealous God and he is jealous for His holy name. (Matthew 6:13; John 17:1-26)

”Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.”

Exodus 23:24

“I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,”

Exodus 20:2-5

“I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

Isaiah 42:8

“For mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? And I will not give my glory unto another.”

Isaiah 48:11

“To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. A men.”

1 Corinthians 15:27

“The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.”

Isaiah 60:14-20

”And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

Revelation 21:22-23

Christ has no Beginning but a Body was Prepared for Him

It is critical to understand where the Word of God reveals the humanity of Christ and how it reveals this nature of Christ to humanity. Mary bore Jesus in his humanity. Mary gave birth to the human nature of Jesus.

Habakkuk 1:12, Isaiah 9:6, Micah 5:2, John 1:1, 3:13, 17; 6:29, 38-40, 51, 62; 8:58,17:1-5 all reveal that the Lord Jesus existed before he was born of a virgin. (Isaiah 7:14) They not only reveal that he previously existed but collectively reveal that this Jesus had no beginning. What had a beginning is the body of Jesus. This body was to be the Old Testament fulfillment in which the sacrifice of the offerings for sin will be completely done away with for the sacrifice of the body of Christ for once, for all, and forever.

Mary was the mother of this sacrificial lamb. She was to bore the human nature of the eternal God who became man so that mankind could be reconciled with God. This Jesus was he that was foretold by Isaiah in chapter 53:

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”

Isaiah 53:3

Jesus was born into this world to be the sacrificial lamb. He was born to be the unblemished lamb for the slaughter. He came into this world from glory to be the sinless sin offering for mankind. He was given no beauty or comeliness that we should desire him but was put to grief and bruised for mankind so that mankind may have eternal life. In the Psalms we read:

“But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.”

Psalm 22:6-8

“As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:”

Isaiah 52:14

Mary bore this man of sorrows what a hard thing it must have been for Mary to watch the child she bore endure such pain and sorrow. What a difficult thing it must have been for her to see what she saw. I cannot even, knowing how much love my own mother has for me, imagine how Mary must have travailed watching her son go through what He went through.

Mary does not exalt herself as anything but the handmaid of the Lord. It is for this reason that Simeon said that a “sword should pierce through thine own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Luke 2:35)

“Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body has thou prepared me:”

Hebrews 10:5

The Eternal Son became Man

God has no beginning. Mary had a beginning. The Son of God has no beginning (Micah 5:2) The earthly body of Christ had a beginning. (Hebrews 10:5) In the presentation The Arm of the Lord we find some wonderful metaphors God uses to describe how He made ‘flesh His holy arm’.

“The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.”

Isaiah 52:10

While the Lord uses this metaphorical language to symbolize the Son of God in how he became flesh, He makes it very clear that the Son of God is not mere man and if mankind believes he is, mankind is in for a rude awakening. In the book of Jeremiah we read:

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
Jeremiah 17:5

In the first book of Timothy we read:

“The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;…”

Hebrews 9:8

“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”

Galatians 4:4-5

“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:”

Romans 8:2

“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.”

Romans 1:3-4

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

1 Timothy 3:16

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:”

Philippians 2:5-9

“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:”

Hebrews 2:7

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”

Hebrews 2:14-18

The Lord God almighty “made bare his holy arm” when he became a partaker of flesh and blood. The Lord was “made” a human being. The Lord took upon the nature of a sinless human being. (John 8:46, 2 Corinthians 5:20-21, Hebrews 4:15; 8:26, 1 Peter 2:22, 1 John 3:4-9)

The Word of God has shown that the Lord Jesus Christ is God and that He became a man for the purpose of ‘reconciling mankind to himself through one body’. (Romans 5:10-21, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

“That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:”

Ephesians 2:12-16

Entering into His Glory

“The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.”

Psalm 99:1

“Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”

John 20:10-17

Through the Word of God, we strongly have a sure word of prophecy in understanding that Mary was the mother of Jesus but not the mother of God. Mary was blessed by God and was ‘highly favored’ by God exactly as the Word of God states. Mary bore Jesus according to the flesh but has no motherly or maternal relationship with Christ since his death in the flesh. Upon his death, the maternal relationship of Mary, mother of Jesus, ended. The following passages are key to understanding how the Lord Jesus reveals this.

Mary was still the woman that God chose to give birth to the Savior. She was still a woman that was beloved among the disciples. She was still a woman that Christ loved as evident from the words of John as Christ has John, from that point, take her into his own home. (John 19:27)

With that being said, Jesus was about to go where nobody on earth could follow nor was anybody on earth worthy to follow. Nobody in the history of the world before that and nobody in the future of the world could enter into where Christ was about to go, that is in the holy of holies which is to say, in the presence of God for us. (Hebrews 9:8; 10:19)

Christ offered ‘Himself’ up. (Hebrews 7:27) He “offered Himself without spot to God” (Hebrews 9:14) Christ entered in once into the holy place “by His own blood”. (Hebrews 9:12) The Lord “appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” (Hebrews 9:26) In Jesus “He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14)

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

Hebrews 1:3-9

The Identity of the Goddess in Light of the Word of God

All have sinned

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 3:23

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

Romans 5:12

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.”

Genesis 3:19-20

“Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul unto heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things,…” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

All are Judged

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

Hebrews 9:27-28

No Flesh is justified in the sight of God

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Galatians 2:16

“The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son’s resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of his Body.” (p. 254, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

“The knot of Eve’s disobedience was untied by Mary’s obedience: what the virgin Eve bound through her disbelief, Mary loosened by her faith…Comparing her with Eve, they call Mary “the Mother of all living” and frequently claim” Death through Eve, life through Mary.” (p. 125, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

Mankind cannot redeem his brother

“They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.”

Psalm 49:6-10

Mankind has one Redeemer

“As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.”

Isaiah 47:4

“…I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.”

Isaiah 60:16

“The recourse we have to Mary in prayer follows upon the office she continuously fills by the side of the throne of God as Mediatrix of Divine grace; being by worthiness and by merit most acceptable to Him, and, therefore, surpassing in power all the angels and saints in Heaven. Now, this merciful office of hers, perhaps, appears in no other form of prayer so manifestly as it does in the Rosary. For in the Rosary all the part that Mary took as our co-Redemptress comes to us.” (section 2. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

God is our Peace

“To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 1:7

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

John 11:25

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

John 14:6

“Hail, holy queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us,…Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.” (p. 69, Handbook for Today’s Catholic)

God is Grace

Ephesians 1:2

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

2 Timothy 2:1

Titus 1:4

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,”

Titus 2:11

“The recourse we have to Mary in prayer follows upon the office she continuously fills by the side of the throne of God as Mediatrix of Divine grace; being by worthiness and by merit most acceptable to Him, and, therefore, surpassing in power all the angels and saints in Heaven. Now, this merciful office of hers, perhaps, appears in no other form of prayer so manifestly as it does in the Rosary.” (section 2. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

1 Peter 1:3

“No man can meditate upon these without feeling a new awakening in his heart of confidence that he will certainly obtain through Mary the fulness of the mercies of God.” (section 5. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

God does not share His glory

”And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

Isaiah 42:8

“To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. A men.”

1 Corinthians 15:27

In the meantime the Mother of Jesus, in the glory which she possesses in body and soul in heaven, is the image and beginning of the Church as it is to be perfected in the world to come. Likewise she shines forth on earth, until the day of the Lord shall come, a sign of certain hope and comfort to the pilgrim People of God.” (p. 254, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

God is our Hope

“For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: wilt thou hear, O Lord my God,”

Psalm 38:15

“And now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in thee.”

Psalm 39:7

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

Titus 2:13

Hail, holy queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

We place the best of Our hopes in the holy Rosary, inasmuch as more than any other means it can impetrate from God the succour which We need.” (section 9. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

God is our Intercessor

“For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.”

Psalm 48:14

“By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;”

Hebrews 7:22-26

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Romans 8:26-27

O God…Grant that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, his Mother, we may attain the joy of eternal life.” (p. 65, [Catholic prayer to Mary] Handbook for Today’s Catholic)

“Thus is confirmed that law of merciful meditation of which We have spoken, and which St. Bernardine of Siena thus expresses: "Every grace granted to man has three degrees in order; for by God it is communicated to Christ, from Christ it passes to the Virgin, and from the Virgin it descends to us." (section 5. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals
/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

“Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation…” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

Mankind has no *Daysman

“For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.”

Job 9:32-33

A Daysman in the Hebrew (yakach) is a word that means to justify, convict, appoint, argue, chasten, convince, correct, plead, reason.

“We believe that the Holy Mother of God, the new Eve, Mother of the Church, continues in heaven to exercise her maternal role on behalf of the members of Christ” (Paul VI, CPG 15).” (p. 254)

Mankind has one Advocate

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

1 John 2:1-2

“Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

Mankind has one Mediator

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

1 Timothy 2:5

“Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

“Now may God, "Who in His most merciful Providence gave us this Mediatrix," and "decreed that all good should come to us by the hands of Mary" (section 3, official web site at http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

Every good and perfect gift comes from God

“Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

James 1:17

“Now may God, "Who in His most merciful Providence gave us this Mediatrix," and "decreed that all good should come to us by the hands of Mary" (St. Bernard), receive propitiously our common prayers and fulfil our common hopes.” (section 11, http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html

Mankind has one Helper in the Heavens

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

Psalm 28:7

“GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1

“Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth. I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good. For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.”

Psalm 54:4-7

“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Hebrews 13:6

“Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

The Kingdom of God

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

Revelation 11:15

“And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying A’men; Alleluia.”

Revelation 19:4

“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

Revelation 21:22-23

“Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul unto heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things,…” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

“Therefore we behold her taken up from this valley of tears into the heavenly Jerusalem, amid choirs of Angels. And we honour her, glorified above all the Saints, crowned with stars by her Divine Son and seated at His side the sovereign Queen of the universe.” (part 4.

God is All Holy

“There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.”

1 Samuel 2:2

“And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are thy ways, the King of Saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? For thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.”

Revelation 15:4

"Remember, O most pious Virgin Mary, that never was it heard that any who fled to thy protection, called upon thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left forsaken." But the fruits of the Rosary appear likewise, and with equal greatness, in the turning with mercy of the heart of the Mother of God towards us. (section 7. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father
/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_08091894_iucunda-semper-expectatione_en.html)

“We believe that the Holy Mother of God, the new Eve, Mother of the Church, continues in heaven to exercise her maternal role on behalf of the members of Christ” (p. 254, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

“By asking Mary to pray for us, we acknowledge ourselves to be poor sinners and we address ourselves to the “Mother of Mercy,” the All-Holy One.” (p. 644, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

Trust The Holy One

“Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.”

Isaiah 31:1-3

“O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death.” (p. 252, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

We give ourselves over to her [Mary] now, in the Today of our lives. And our trust broadens further, already at the present moment, to surrender “the hour of our death” wholly to her care. May she be there as she was at her son’s death on the cross. May she welcome us as our mother at the hour of our passing to lead us to her son, Jesus, in paradise.” (p. 644, Catechism of the Catholic Church)

As the angels of God in heaven

“Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”

Matthew 22:24-30

The Lord Jesus alone could enter into the Holy of Holies

Through the flesh Christ destroyed the power of death. In his death, that is in his suffering ‘without the gate’ Christ subjected himself to the law and to the obedience of the carnal commandments, but now, through a better testament, through the ransom of his perfect sacrifice he was worthy to enter into the holy of holies.

In order for Mary to be given the title ‘Mother of God’ she would have had to been worthy to follow Jesus into the holy place. Mary was not worthy because Mary was born into sin, just like everyone that has ever been born of a woman.

The Pattern

Old Testament Sanctuary

The building of the tabernacle made with hands and the sanctuary where God would dwell (Exodus 25:8-16)

New Testament Sanctuary

The earthy tabernacle of God manifested and dwelling in Christ Jesus (John 1:1, Hebrews 8:2-13)

______________________________

Old Testament Mercy Seat

The mercy seat and the cherubims on both ends of the mercy seat (Exodus 25:18-22)

New Testament Mercy Seat

The tomb where the body of Christ had lain and the angels at both ends (John 20:11-13)

Old Testament Anointing

Christ was Anointed just as

What Jesus said in the passage of John 19:25-27 is monumental in understanding the distinction of Mary being the mother of Jesus and the RCC belief that Mary is the ‘Mother of God’.

Hebrews

After he ascended to heaven and on the right hand of God (Mark 16:19, Luke 24:50-51, Acts 9-11) he no longer was a member of the human race but was He that dwells in the light that no man can approach unto.

Saul of Tarsus saw a glimpse of this light of Christ that was so bright it temporarily blinded him for three days when Christ appeared to him in his heavenly glory while Saul traveled to Damascus.

“And as he [Saul] journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”

Acts 9:3-5

“And when I could not see for the glory of that light…”

Acts 22:11

“At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.” Acts 26:13

“That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”

1 Timothy 6:14-16

Woman, behold thy son

As Christ was the sacrificial lamb for the sins of the world that would ‘in the days of his flesh’ suffer without the gate (outside of the holy of holies) we find that Hebrews

In conclusion, the Scriptures reveal that Mary was highly favored by God and chosen to give birth to the Savior. What the Scriptures also reveal is that God places prophetical insights through the Old Testament identifying that the mother of Jesus would be a virgin, however, the emphasis is never on the person of Mary, it is on the person of Jesus Christ.

The Word of God is clear in that Christ rebuked Mary on occasion for using her position as his mother to encourage him to do something. Jesus was clear in diverting glory away from Mary when attempts were made to give glory to her.

The Lord never calls Mary, ‘Mother’. Not once does the Lord ever refer to Mary has a ‘Queen of heaven’ or ‘Queen of the Universe’. Jeremiah (44) provides a strong condemnation for those that worshipped a ‘Queen of heaven’. The goddess Diana, as recorded by Paul to those at Ephesus (Acts 19) also draws a similar condemnation to those who had worshipped and made statues to the false god. Diana also draws eerie similarities to the phenomena of the apparitions of ‘Mary’, which happen in like manner.

It is essential for the God fearing individual to submit to the Word of God, not the word of man. Through numerous passages within the Word of God, Roman Catholic Church dogma is not only in opposition to the Word of God, it is an abomination to God. The church claims things of Mary that God states of Himself and only of Himself.

Satan is subtle and even small subtleties pollute the written Word of God. In the writings of Paul we find, “”But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. “For he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”

Paul also continues on to say that Satan, as well as his ministers can also transformed into angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:12-15). Satan can deceive people through elements that the world things are godly.
